Wednesday 07 October 2020 – One of the key moments at TravelManagers’ annual national conference in 2018 was the announcement of a new health and wellbeing initiative called the Network Assistance Program (NAP). NAP is made available through PeopleSense, which is a program run by Altius Group that provides personal travel managers (PTMs) and National Partnership Office (NPO) staff with professional services that cover a range of needs, from anxiety and anger management to mediation and conflict resolution.

Wednesday 30 September 2020 – Change can be difficult and painful. This year has brought with it change on a scale that has challenged many people in their professional and personal lives like nothing ever before. As humans, we pride ourselves on being adaptable, of being able to “roll with the punches”, but often change is both uncomfortable and unwelcome.

The open expanses of Queensland’s Matilda Way highway provided a much-needed change of scenery and state of mind for personal travel manager Caroline Cox

Wednesday 23 September 2020 – For travel industry personnel who have been deprived of their regular travel fix during 2020, there can be few more idyllic ways to enjoy an afternoon than with an indulgent lunch cruise on beautiful Sydney Harbour with a small group of colleagues. This was exactly the treat which awaited six of TravelManagers’ New South Wales-based personal travel managers (PTMs) and three National Partnership Office (NPO) team members when they accepted an invitation from TravelManagers’ Operations Manager, Pru Gallagher, recently.

Cooler winter temperatures were no match for the warmth of good wine and good company for this happy crew. Back row (L-R) Pru Gallagher, Aaron Eilers (Dream/Crystal Cruises), Penny Toon, Annalize Troost, Helen Eves (Tauck Tours & Cruises), Graciela Craig, and Walter Nand (Ride The World/Unique Cruises). Wednesday 09 September 2020 – When TravelManagers’ Melissa Loynes was working on the launch of her new “Secret Stays” mystery weekends, her Business Partnership Manager (BPM), Kellie Browning, was there to offer support and guidance. When Adela Backhouse and Emma Ross needed assistance with their new joint initiative now known as “Belle Adventures”, they turned to TravelManagers’ marketing team for advice, a new website and collateral. In fact, look behind any of the 560-plus home-based personal travel managers (PTMs) spread across Australia and you’ll find a team of people hard at work to ensure that they have all the support they need to succeed.

For some PTMs, support means a long lunch with colleagues (PTMS and NPO) and a chance to share ideas for the future.

Thursday 03 September 2020 – After more than a decade spent commuting 90 minutes each way to her job in a Sydney-based corporate travel agency, Lisa Metzl knew she was ready for a change. She initially tried working as a freelancer for a retail travel agency, but her sense of separation from the in-house consultants had her casting around for a better option. Little did she realise when she came across a profile about a new, home-based travel agency in a trade publication, that she would one day be celebrating fifteen happy and fulfilling years as a personal travel manager (PTM) with that company.

Gathered for a celebratory lunch at The Cowrie in Terrigal NSW are TravelManagers’ Angharad O’Malley, Suzanne Laister, Joe Araullo, Judy Gillings, Rick Pattaro, Ally Casey, Michael Gazal, Lisa Metzl, Michelle Michael-Pecora and Grant Campbell.

Wednesday 26 August 2020 – When TravelManagers’ Adela Backhouse and Emma Ross first came up with the concept of Belle Adventures two years ago, one of the first people they turned to for advice was their Business Partnership Manager (BPM), Karen Dowling. And as their concept for a travel enterprise that specialised in creating tailored holidays exclusively for groups of women has evolved, the pair have welcomed the ongoing support that Dowling has provided.

TravelManagers’ Emma Ross and Adela Backhouse wined and dined their Business Partnership Manager Karen Dowling as an expression of gratitude for her ongoing support with their ‘Belle Adventures’ enterprise.

Wednesday 19 August 2020 – One of the biggest perks of a career in travel has always been the opportunity to experience new destinations and experiences around the world. In 2020, COVID-19 has delivered a particularly savage blow to personal travel managers (PTMs), whose livelihoods are intrinsically linked to a love of travel. However, necessity breeds invention, and so PTMs throughout Australia have been seeking out new destinations and experiences within their own regions to satisfy their wanderlust.

Wednesday 12 August 2020 – With the ongoing COVID-related restrictions on movement around Australia over the past six months, would-be travellers have been forced to find alternative remedies for their itchy feet. For two New South Wales-based personal travel managers (PTMs), this has presented an opportunity to take their skills in creating tailored, small-group holidays to exotic overseas destinations, and use them to design short breaks within New South Wales for their pool of loyal and enthusiastic clients as well as an introduction to new clients.

Wednesday 05 August 2020 – The tiny town of Charleville is situated almost 700 kilometres inland from Brisbane and has a population of a little over three thousand people. A visit to Charleville is a very different holiday experience to a week of beaches, shopping and culture in Bali, but for personal travel manager Aileen Collins, whose 69th birthday celebration in Bali was ruled out by COVID-19, a recent road trip on Queensland’s inland touring route was a rewarding alternative to the holiday she had originally planned.
