Wednesday 12 December 2018 – The islands of the Philippines sit roughly three thousand kilometres almost due north of Darwin, and their popularity as a tourism destination has grown steadily over the past ten years, with more than 250,000 Australians estimated to have visited in 2017. With this in mind, thirteen personal travel managers (PTMs) were invited to be part of a group of thirty travel professionals on an eight-day famil of the island provinces of Cebu and Bohol, hosted by the Philippine Department of Tourism and Philippine Airlines.
After arriving in Cebu, the group spent their first morning participating in a “travel exchange”: a series of B2B sessions...

Wednesday 05 December 2018 – Bolivia and Chile are spoiled for superlatives: the highest-altitude capital city (La Paz), the highest navigable lake (Titicaca), the largest salt flat (Salar de Uyuni), and the driest and possibly oldest desert (Atacama). But as TravelManagers’ Camilla Manson discovered recently during a thirteen-day famil hosted by Chimu Adventures, there are plenty of other highlights to be enjoyed in these two fascinating and varied countries.
Manson, who is based in Kingscliff in northern New South Wales, says she went on the famil with no expectations...

People are drawn to Vietnam for its friendly people, rich culture and beautiful scenery, but for many, the greatest drawcard is its mouth-watering cuisine: an enticing combination of fresh ingredients that produce flavours that dance on your tongue. When TravelManagers’ Frances Cream joined forces with local Gold Coast chef, private caterer and café proprietor, Angela Barany, to create a small group culinary tour of Vietnam, the pair quickly realised that they had created a recipe for success.
Cream, who is representative for Southport, QLD, joined TravelManagers after several years away from the travel industry, and first met...

Making a major career change can be a daunting prospect, but TravelManagers’ National Partnership Office (NPO) works hard to ensure that the transition process for newly-minted personal travel managers (PTMs) is a smooth one, beginning with a three-day induction course. The most recent of these induction courses was remarkable for its geographical spread, with the eight available places being claimed by PTMs from every state except New South Wales.

Systems training is an essential part of TravelManagers’ new PTM induction process: (L-R) Kristy Breed, Sharon Ward, Lisa Malnar, Elaine Taylor, Melissa Randazzo (NPO), Jan Chappell, Michael Puttner, Saskia Van Dongen and Catherine Widdup
TravelManagers’ Executive General Manager, Michael Gazal, was on hand to welcome the new inductees at the start of the course...

For many of the personal travel managers (PTMs) who attended TravelManagers’ recent annual national conference in Honolulu, the chance to extend their stay and join one of the pre- or post-conference famils was too great to pass up. For thirteen participants, this entailed a four-day, three nights experiencing the highlights of the island of Oahu, from outrigger canoe surfing at Waikiki Beach to a tour of some of Hollywood’s most famous movie locations at Kualoa Private Nature Reserve.
For PTM Kate Bevan, who is representative for Croydon, VIC, the group’s time on Oahu’s famous North Shore was one...

Georgia sits at the intersection of Europe and Asia, a former Soviet republic that is fast becoming the next big thing, thanks in no small part to its varied and impossibly beautiful landscapes that include the towering Caucasus Mountains and lovely Black Sea beaches. TravelManagers was fortunate to have two personal travel managers (PTMs) invited to participate in a recent eleven-day famil of the country, hosted by Crooked Compass.
One of just six famil participants, PTM Di Yates says Georgia was a destination she didn’t know a lot about...

They say the proof of the pudding is in the tasting, and for seven personal travel managers (PTMs) on a recent TravelManagers’ famil of the Maldives’ Club Med Kani and Finolhu Villas, a four-night taste was proof enough that a barefoot-luxury holiday in this exquisite destination is well worth aspiring to.
The group was hosted by Club Med’s Business Development Manager, Adam Ferraro and accompanied by TravelManagers’ Fares and Ticketing Manager,...
