Personal Travel Managers Charmed By Broome
For TravelManagers' Victoria based personal travel managers Nicole Edgar representative for Narre Warren South and Tania Patterson representative for Clyde North, the coastal town of Broome in the Kimberley region was on their list of must see destinations.

“Broome has always been on my bucket list. I had fabulous ideas about walking along famous Cable Beach, watching it’s colourful sunsets and indulging at the five star Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa. I love outback Australia, and this famil provided the perfect opportunity to taste a little bit of it. I certainly wasn’t disappointed,” says Edgar.
The personal travel managers recently got their wish, experiencing this unique part of the stunningly beautiful Northern Western Australia on a three-night famil trip hosted by Viva! Holidays.
Edgar found it difficult to choose a highlight from their adventure packed itinerary, but it was the camel ride that Broome is so famous for, that proved most memorable.
“Riding a camel along Cable Beach, during one of its infamous sunsets is an experience I will never forget. Definitely don’t miss the sunsets on Cable Beach even without the camel ride, it is a must do experience. And if you are in Broome between April to October on a full moon evening, go to Mangrove’s Hotel where you can witness a natural phenomenon, called the ‘Stairway to the Moon’. This occurs when a full moon rises after dark, at low tide when the mudflats are exposed, creating the illusion of an individual stepped staircase leading up to the moon. It is something that needs to be seen to be believed.”
For Patterson it was the barramundi dinner at Matso’s Broome Brewery that was a highlight.
“I highly recommend a visit to the historical Matso’s Brewery and sample some local beers – my favourites were the mango beer, lychee beer and ginger beer – all simply delicious and perfect on a hot day. They also offer tasty upmarket ‘pub’ food cuisine, and I can’t speak highly enough of my barramundi dinner, my mouth still waters when I think about it! A tip though, request an indoor air-conditioned table, to avoid the heat and the flies!”
With 47 different styles of accommodation available at the luxurious Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, there is something for everyone.
“The resort is perfectly located being Broome’s only beach-facing property and is only about an 8 minute drive from town. Facing west, it overlooks the famous Cable Beach where you can view the spectacular sunsets. Cable Beach is safe to swim in, there are no salt-water crocodiles, but it does have stingers in the wet season from October to March. It was amazing to see wild dwarf wallabies frolicking around the gardens at the property which seemed to amuse the kids immensely,” says Patterson.

For Edgar and Patterson they can happily now tick off Broome from their bucket list, however both have plans to return at some stage.
“Your on Broome time, so there’s no rush,” laughs Patterson.
