Tasmania turns on its charm for TravelManagers State Meeting
It was Tasmania’s turn to participate in TravelManagers latest round of bi-annual state meetings recently and the southern most state certainly turned on its charm for the occasion.

The regional gatherings are a winning formula with TravelManagers’ personal travel managers (PTM’s).
“The feedback over the years from PTM’s has always been that our regional focus, strong contingent from our national partnership office and hosting by our local state-based business partnership managers really works. A 75 percent PTM attendance at our recent Tasmania meeting really shows we have the concept right,” says Executive General Manager Michael Gazal.
PTM Anna Bayley representative for Sandy Bay highlights the national partnership office support and physical presence regionally is invaluable.
“It’s so nice to see the national partnership office team venturing to the south and include Tassie as part of our state meetings. We may be a little remote but this just proves to us that our views and contributions are important. We may have a smaller contingent of personal travel mangers than other states but our passion, commitment and engagement with the company is equally as strong.“
For PTM Chrissy Millington representative for Taroona, it was the business updates and opportunity to network that made the day a success.
“I really enjoyed the Tassie State meeting and the opportunity to spend time with some of the awesome head office gang. I found the updates very beneficial and it was great to share ideas and experiences. The Tassie PTM’s are a close-knit group, we are lucky we have the support of each other. I’m looking forward to the Darwin conference this year to connect with more of the PTM’s across Australia as the genuine camaraderie that exists between the PTM’s is a real strength of TravelManagers.”
For Bayley it was the tips on working smarter not harder that really resonated.
“Our focus as PTM’s is all about adding client value but it was a valuable reminder about how we can look to improve income with each booking transaction by adding value to a client’s travel experience where appropriate. It’s all about working smarter and not always harder.”
TravelManagers holds regional meetings twice a year in six or more locations around Australia, complimenting the annual national conference, which for 2017 will be held in the Northern Territory from 7th to 9th September.
“Most of the Tasmanian based PTM’s are planning to make the trip up to Darwin next September to attend conference. This would mean a significant contingent from the furthest south of our network making the travel pilgrimage to the furthest north in Darwin which shows that TravelManagers really does have has committed and engaged PTM’s and a significant geographic coverage throughout the country,” says Gazal.
Following the morning’s business sessions, the PTM’s along with seven national partnership office staff and two partner suppliers enjoyed a Christmas lunch at Post St Social a waterfront bar and restaurant located in Hobart’s popular Franklin Wharf area.
TravelManagers will culminate their personal travel manager state meetings around Australia in Brisbane, which is scheduled for later this month.
